Shocked Residents React as Landlord's Connection to Robbers Who Killed Man and Assaulted Daughters Comes to Light

 


In a shocking turn of events, the residents of Apaatuku/Onireke village in Akobo, Oyo state, are reeling from the revelation that their own landlord had invited a group of robbers who tragically took the life of Makanjuola Ogedengbe and subjected his two young daughters to a horrifying ordeal. The police, in an effort to bring justice to the victims, have paraded 21 suspected robbers, shedding light on the details surrounding this heinous crime.


Details of the Incident:

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, the suspects, armed with weapons, stormed the village in the early hours of May 14, 2023. During their criminal spree, they robbed residents of their valuables, mercilessly killed Makanjuola Ogedengbe, and subjected his two daughters, aged 14 and 10, to unspeakable acts of assault. The heart-wrenching incident left the entire community in shock and grief.


Investigation and Revelations:

Following the incident, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, for a thorough investigation. During this process, it was uncovered that three individuals—namely Ibrahim Rasaq, Abiodun Olalekan, and Abolade Morenikeji—had already been arrested in connection with a separate armed robbery reported on April 16, 2023, at Sawia Estate in Ibadan. Shockingly, it was revealed that this very same gang was responsible for the violent attack in Apaatuku/Onireke.


The investigation took a startling turn when it was discovered that Morenikeji and an individual named Sodiq had allegedly assaulted the two daughters of the deceased. Tragically, Sodiq, believed to be the leader of the gang, was killed by the community's security guards during the operation. Additionally, a night guard was also injured by gunfire but is currently receiving medical treatment.


Landlord's Involvement Exposed:

In a recent development on June 16, 2023, at approximately 3:30 am, Adebayo Salami, a major receiver and informant for the group, was apprehended in connection with the case. During interrogation, Salami confessed to inviting the gang for the robbery operation in the Apaatuku area, resulting in the tragic loss of Makanjuola Ogedengbe's life and the violation of his two young daughters.
